Dragon’s Tail
Lesotho
13-18 August 2024
The Mountain Kingdom, Place of towering peaks and thundering waterfalls. The
Basotho have many names for their beautiful county. Many foreigners riding these
roads have suggested that it’s a better experience than the Alps! This is however
rugged country. A place where mistakes are punished harshly but the rewards for the
cautious and experienced are bountiful.
Join The Adventure Academy on a five-day tour through the best parts of Lesotho
and have your mind blown by the magnificence of your travels. Our journey will be
predominantly tar road but there will be sections of gravel and off road to contend
with where necessary.
Safety is paramount as we cross the border, one that doesn’t have the same
infrastructure South Africa offers, so your guides have been chosen specifically for
this tour.
No beginner riders or tourers will be granted access. Experienced Road riders with a solid base of offroad riding upon adventure motorcycles is required.
We will experience more corners than you’ll know what to do with. The views will be
legendary. The interactions with the locals will warm your heart and the overnight
stops will be basic but comfortable. Please don’t expect 4- and 5-Star
accommodation. The rooms will be clean, showers hot and the food will be plentiful
and served with a gracious hand.
Beginning in Fouriesburg with a welcome party and good night’s rest, highlights will
include numerous mountain passes, Semonkong Waterfall, Afriski, Katse dam wall
tour and the Kao diamond mine, The Devils Staircase and we will even cross some
of the trails that the Roof of Africa Extreme Enduro is hosted on.
The average distance covered will be around 250 km’s per day, so a good level of
riding fitness is required!
